Hiding away, alone and quiet, then, is first an affirmation, not a denial. We are not saying "No" to the world, we are affirming the world is not simply what it appears to be, the world is the arena of Something more. The Something means the world is holy, is sacred, and there is, absolutely, no dividing line between sacred and secular, holy and unholy, and godless and godly.
Likewise, we see the idolatry of words. We confess, silently, simply by inner seeing, that we have spoken of the Mystery as though we can speak It, and we have judged others of different words as having less the Truth than we do. The Silence shows us this subtle arrogance of words. The Silence shows us the most intimate way to embrace the Truth is before we speak of It, even think of It. Then, among others, we respect more the way persons word Grace differently than we choose to, and in this we are living in the space between right and wrong, meaning in-Love, yes in-God, the spaciousness of holy communion.

Since holy communion is heightened in Silence, when by oneself or with others, this signifies I cannot hide unless I hide with others. Even alone, I am not alone, I cannot not be with others. In Silence apart, I find the holy communion I have longed for is the holy communion I am, and I discover that I am is that we are. So, to retreat into aloneness with the Alone, this is an act of Love to all beings, seen and unseen, human and other, and to the Earth we share here together.
